2023 AGE CHART

Before you register, please reference Little League’s Age Chart to confirm your player’s correct LEAGUE AGE.

For the 2023 spring season, LEAGUE AGE is determined by a player’s actual age on 8/31/2023.

(For example, a player born 9/1/2016 - 8/31/2017 is LEAGUE AGE 6, but a player born 9/1/2017 - 8/31/2018 is LEAGUE AGE 5.)

TEE BALL - League Ages 4 and 5

Tee Ball is usually a family’s first introduction to BLL. It is designed for boys and girls, League Ages 4 and 5.

Tee Ball players use bats and balls designated specifically with safety in mind. Umpires are not used because score is not kept and outs are not recorded. Coaches are allowed on the field during play to help players with alertness and defensive positioning.

All practices and games are held on Gee Field at Horn Elementary. Teams meet twice each week — once during the week and once on Saturday. Beginning in 2023, each Tee Ball team will consistently be assigned the same weeknight session (either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday). Practices and games typically last one hour.

Regardless of your baseball experience, we strongly encourage you to apply to volunteer as a coach or some other volunteer position within our league. While Bellaire Little League contracts with Little Sluggers to provide skilled coaching assistants to help run practices and games during the Tee Ball season, parents play a crucial role in making Tee Ball a positive experience for their children and the foundation for continued participation in our league for years to come.

ROOKIE BALL - League Ages 5 and 6

Rookie Ball is BLL's version of "half Tee Ball and half pitching machine."

Most Rookie ball players are League Age 6 (born 9/1/16 - 8/31/17). Players who are League Age 5 (born 9/1/17 - 8/31/18) are also eligible provided they have one year of Tee Ball experience.

Balls are pitched at 28 mph from a machine positioned on the grass in front of the mound, but in the event of three missed swings a hitter will be given the chance to hit from a batting tee.  This level uses a semi-soft ball that is not quite as hard as a regular baseball.  Score is not kept, but hitter and runners may be called out by the coaches and returned to the dugout.  Two coaches are allowed on the field to help with alertness and defensive positioning.

All practices and games are held at Horn Elementary (Fox Field and Kindle Field).  Teams meet 2-3 times each week on some or all of Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Practices and games typically last 75 minutes.

TEXAS LEAGUE - League Ages 7, 8, and 9

Texas League is our primary pitching machine league.

Balls are pitched at 38mph from a machine positioned at the standard Little League distance of 46 feet. Players use a regular (hard) little league baseball. At least one umpire is used for every game. Field scoreboards are turned on and win-loss records are tracked. A fun and competitive post-season tournament is the highlight of every Texas League season.

All practices and games are held at Horn Elementary (Fox Field and Kindle Field).  Teams meet 3 times each week on some combination of Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Practices and games typically last 90 minutes, but players are also expected to arrive for warmups approximately 45 minutes before every game.

ALL registrants must attend MANDATORY player assessments during the weekend of 1/21-22/2023.
