Ways to Volunteer 

 
Like all youth athletic leagues, Bellaire Little League’s success is dependent on a foundation of parent volunteerism.  Each and every family is needed to participate by assuming a team job and assisting with the concession stand.
Below is a list of volunteer opportunities available for the Spring 2010 season.  Please read the brief job descriptions and fill out the volunteer form and bring it to one of the Forms Check Days or give it to your manager.  VERY IMPORTANT:  IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE ANY TYPE OF CONTACT WITH THE CHILDREN, YOU MUST SUBMIT A VOLUNTEER FORM.
 
 
TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
MANAGER/COACHES: Each team requires one manager (head coach) and 2 Coaches (assistants). 
  1. Team Parent:  The Team Parent fills a large role and is a crucial contact point between the team and Auxiliary Board.  The Team Parent will organize filling all non-managing/coaching team jobs, which include:
  2. Gala Liaison: The Gala Liaison is responsible for organizing the team’s auction basket for the Gala, as well as encouraging team parents to attend our main fundraising event.  The Gala Liaison will also serve as the team contact for the Gala committee.
  3. Photo Chair: The Photo Chair will collect all photo forms and payments for team and individual pictures at Opening Ceremonies and distribute photos.
  4. Opening Ceremonies Liaison: The OC Liaison will solicit volunteers to help with OC and serve as the team contact for the OC committee.
  5. Concession Liaison: The Concession Liaison will organize parents to oversee the concession stand at each home game at Jessamine field and to work the team’s scheduled grill duty.  Everyone working at the stand or grill duty must wear a hat (baseball caps are fine).
  6. Scorekeeper: For TX, Minors, and Majors only, the Scorekeeper keeps score for the team.
  7. Pitch Counter: For Minors and Majors only, the Pitch Counter tracks the number of pitches thrown by each pitcher for both teams at the games.
  8. Positive Coaching Alliance Rep: New Position!   BLL wants to ensure a culture where kids love to play the game of baseball and look forward to practices and games.   BLL has recently partnered with the Positive Coaching Alliance to assist us in teaching the kids how to strive to perform to the best of their ability, but more importantly, to use baseball to teach life lessons.  The team PCA Rep reminds parents and players to honor the game, making sure our actions reflect BLL's values.  The Rep will also be responsible for sending at least three "tips and tools" from the PCA website to the team parent, manager, and coaches throughout the season.  In an effort to get all parents to become Second-Goal-Parents, a parent may only hold this job once every 5 years. 
 
VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES:
 
Field Maintenance: Maintaining playing conditions on the fields.
Concession Stand: BLL hires teenagers to work shifts at the Jessamine concession stand, but an adult must oversee them.  Each home team at a game at Jessamine field must provide adult supervision for the concession stand.   In addition, each family will need to work a shift at the grill (Wednesday or Saturday). 
 
Fundraising: The Fundraising Committee is always looking for sponsors—we offer team sponsorships and also have outfield signs available at Jessamine Field.  Responsibilities also include selling spirit wear and yard signs and soliciting for sponsors.
 
Gala: The Gala is our main fundraiser each year, raising money through both silent and live auctions and also raffles. This year's Gala will be held on April 30, 2010. The Gala needs volunteers in many areas - decorations, entertainment, auction solicitations, underwriting, and more.
 
Opening Ceremonies: Opening Ceremonies is BLL’s big event to kick off our Spring season, and will be held on February 27, 2010. A true Baseball Fair, OC needs help arranging photos, finding an MC, scheduling entertainment, coordinating food vendors, etc.
