Frequently Asked Questions
What gear will players need for the season?
For all divisions, except Rookie, the League will provide one pant, shirt(jersey), socks, belt, and cap (per player).  For Rookie players, the League will provide shirt and cap.  In addition (not provided by BLL), players should have cleats, helmet, and a glove. Bats (metal) are optional. It is also recommended that players label everything and have a bag to carry their belongings/equipment.  For safety reasons, it is also recommended that players in Texas, Minors, and Majors divisions wear a cup and sliding shorts.  In addition, here are the recommended guidelines for Spring 2011:

Baseball Bats
  • less than 33 inches long, 2 1/4 inches diameter, BPF 1.15
  • no composite barrels (unless approved by LLI)
  • the bats must be round and smooth, check the grips or handle
  • batting donuts are not allowed

Batting Helmets
  • no paint, tape, decals, stickers, etc -- hides cracks/weakens plastic
  • all Texas, Coach Pitch, TBall and Rookie players must wear helmets (although not required, use of helmets with face protection is encouraged)
  • Minors and Majors players must wear helmets with either full grill or a C-Flap on the side that faces the pitcher

Catcher's Helmets and Shin Guards
  • no paint, tape, decals, stickers, etc
